My research opérations will thus start with that time.
In the course of the investigations, further ramifications will appear such as HUMBERT-DROZ called WALTHER,
HUMBERT-DROZ called Nicolaux, HUMBERT-DROZ-LAURENT, HUMBERT-DROZ-COLLET and another ramification with the name
of HUMBERT-PRINCE after a marriage concluded with a lady named PRINCE in the 18th century.
On perusing the archival documents, one will notice the varying spelling of the HUMBERT-DROZ patronymic
bringing forth versions such as HUMBERTDROU, HUMBERTDROZ, with the last ramifiction HUMBERDROSS discovered in
Bethania, Queensland, Australia. Those people were Lutherans originating from Prussia and establishing
themselves in this little town between 1840 and 1850. The first assumption will obviously be that the founder
of this ramification, one more Abraham, might be a descendant of Jacques, son of David, living in 1630 who at
that time went to live at Frankenthal in Prussia. His descendents can be traced back in small towns such as
Battin, Prenzlau, Woddow, and Schwedt. The second assumption worthy of interest will be that Abraham emigrated
directly from the Principality of Neuchâtel which was still owned of the Kingdom of Prussia.
Ethymologically, the patronymic HUMBERT-DROZ is a composite of Humbert derived from the early Germanic
first name of Hunnberht meaning brillant like a bear, and Droz from Drogo or Drugo, Druto in Celtic and Dreux
in old French meaning true and strong fighter.
By publishing this page, I envisage to complete of the family data with more than 5500 index cards, and to
compose the most comprehensive genealogical tree to be followed by chronicles tracing back the history and life
of its members.
Of course anybody having available stories, documents and complementary data will be welcome. I will gladly
await your messages, which who knows might ultimately lead to a great family encounter with all
HUMBERT-DROZ cousins from all over the whole world
